Managing at work isn’t what it used to be. The speed, volume and complexity of work has increased dramatically in the 21st Century, and most managers and leaders are unprepared for this change. We're deluged with information, tortured by impossible deadlines, and overwhelmed by high-spiraling expectations. No matter how well-organized we are, we simply can't get it all done.
The knowledge, skills and methods that enabled effective management and leadership a decade ago are simply insufficient for the demands of today's work environment. Work is moving faster and growing more complex -- from managing people and implementing corporate objectives to driving change and producing results. And most of our established and familiar methods for being effective leave us unprepared to work in this fast-paced and demanding global environment.

Our perceptions and beliefs may be so deeply rooted, so unquestioned, that they become barriers to our ability to see new possibilities and opportunities. The traditional way of doing something may seem like the only way and this can leave us blinded to new ideas, opportunities and solutions.
