Christine McDougall
Christine McDougall is an expert in facilitating authentic leadership and profound communication through her work delivering international training programs and coaching executives.
Christine is a Master Certified Coach, the highest international commendation awarded to coaches by the International Coach Federation. She is one of the leaders in coaching in Australia and New Zealand, with ten years full time experience. Christine was the first coach in Australia and New Zealand to receive the qualification of Master Certified Coach.
Her work is leading edge, combining a systemic perspective with daring and compassion, using models such as Wilber’s integral theory, Buckminster Fuller’s systems theory, developmental models including spiral dynamics, and her own models supporting unconditional responsibility, cultures of commitment, appreciative inquiry processes and the ability to speak the truth with compassion.
Recently, Christine developed the Dare to Care programme which has been delivered to hundreds of people in Australia, New Zealand, and the USA.
Dare to Care transforms the way managers communicate at all levels, from junior to the most senior executives. The programme teaches people to become aware of how they are perceived by others and to become more conscious of the impact and consequences of their communications. Having this awareness enables people to make choices about changing any aspects of their communication which may not be serving themselves and/or their constituencies. Dare to Care also supports individuals and groups to implement changes in order to communicate more effectively with clarity, integrity and “heart”. Ultimately, the new ways of communicating lead to better relationships, more effective problem solving and dealing with difficult workplace situations much more skillfully.
Christine would describe herself as a permanent student, working on her own lifelong master’s degree. She currently is exploring the fields of economics and alternate currencies, world politics, archetypal and mythological studies, including Jung, Cambell and Myss, emergent models of business, systemic cultural change, natural design, and perennial philosophy.
She is a certified Level Two Spiral Dynamics practitioner and teaches a Spiral Dynamics experiential workshop. She is also certified in DISC, PIAV and Reiss Values Profile. Christine holds a Bachelor’s Degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, 1983.
Her corporate clients include Australia and New Zealand based mulitnationals in banking, finance and real estate and include: A.N.Z. Bank, NAB, St George Bank, Remax and Australia Post. She has lectured to MBA students at both Bond University and Queensland Institute of Technology. Her individual clients are located around the world. Christine has conducted over ten thousand hours of coaching with senior executives both face to face and via the telephone. Business leaders seek Christine out because of her extraordinary ability to inspire people to speak and act with truth, responsibility, integrity, courage and love. Christine’s ideas combine practical application with philosophical and spiritual depth.
Christine has been a Board member of the International Coach Federation (USA) for five years, in her last year in the position of Vice President. She was the inaugural President of the International Coach Federation Australasia. These roles gave her experience in working within a not for profit organization, working virtually with groups around the world, and working with the natural design of a global start up business. Christine is on the editorial board of the International Journal for Coaching in Organizations, the first professional coaching journal to be published and distributed worldwide. Once a year, Christine joins 60 executive coaches from around the world for the Executive Coaching Summit, an invitation only event comprised of a diverse global network of senior executive development experts researching and integrating best practices in the field. Christine is also a founding member of the International Consortium for Coaches in Organizations. She has been a keynote speaker at many coaching events around the world, plus other industry bodies, including Institutes of Management and Human Resources.
Christine has been a business owner and entrepreneur since she was 24 years old, with experience prior to executive coaching and training in professional services and manufacturing, both locally and internationally.
She has travelled extensively, particularly within North America, making the trip across the Pacific over 45 times. Beyond her work, Christine enjoys travelling, and outdoor activities, which include running, swimming and snowboarding. She has completed over 16 marathons and three ultra-marathons and an Ironman Triathlon. Without a doubt, her endurance sport has contributed to her value as a coach, in the spiritual, physical, emotional and mental domains.
